Testing, testing …

Welcome to – the new home for the Hawthorn Rat Varieties page. It’s long overdue, and it’s not quite finished, but you’re welcome to have a look round and explore while I’m finishing up.

At the moment I’m still working on making the last few sections visible (coat varieties should be here soon, the genetics section I wouldn’t hold your breath for…), and of course adding all of the new and unstandardised colours and markings.

What you can help with for the moment is mainly photographs. If you look on the agouti page, you’ll notice the swizzy new gallery setup – and ideally, I’d have half a dozen various examples for each variety. Show winning examples are great, but I’d also like to have non-show quality examples up there too, to give a better representation of what a variety actually looks like.

The other input that would be really valuable is your experience with breeding particular varieties. If you’d like to contribute some wisdom or information on the nuances of breeding your chosen favourite colour or marking for its variety page or indeed as a separate article, that would be more than welcome – just let me know what you’re planning.

If you do have any contributions, or if you’d just like to send in some feedback (good or bad!) on the site, please use the contribute link near the top of the page.
